From Cotopaxi National Park, which holds the world-famous Cotopaxi Volcano, to the Mindo-Nambillo Cloudforest Reserve and its lush cloud forests, Ecuador is home to some of the most remarkable mountains in the world. Further south, Chimborazo, the highest peak in the country, towers 20,565 feet in the air and lies at the heart of the Ecuadorean Andes. Tungurahua is another one of Ecuador's most notable volcanoes and lies in the city of Banos, providing spectacular views and hikes to explore. The city of Cuenca also offers a stunning mountain backdrop to take in while touring its UNESCO-listed colonial streets.
