History
Khan Tengri is the tallest mountain in Kazakhstan and is also the third-highest peak in Kyrgyzstan. It is a popular destination for climbers. The first successful ascent of Khan Tengri was made by a German-Russian expedition in 1931, led by Mikhail Pogrebetsky.
Since then, thousands of people have climbed the mountain, from professional mountaineers to casual trekkers. The peak has seen some of the world's greatest climbers tackle its steep faces, including Reinhold Messner and Anatoli Boukreev.

Climbing Khan Tengri
Climbing Khan Tengri is considered a difficult challenge due to its altitude and the conditions of the mountain itself. However, some expeditions have been successful and adventurous travelers can still attempt to summit this stunning peak.
The first ascent was made in 1931 by a team led by Mikhail Pogrebetsky.
The mountain is 23,000 feet tall, something that includes it in an elite group of unbelievably tall mountains, most of which are in Asia (some of the tallest mountains in the world are in Nepal). Sadly, multiple mountaineers have died on the mountain, including more than a dozen who died in 2004 during an avalanche while trying to climb the Pogrebetsky route, which is considered to be the standard route.
